Tianjin, the largest port city in north China, handled 9,725 tons of imported fur with the value of 6.46 million US dollars in the first half of this year, up 61 percent and 42 percent year-on-year, respectively.
Statistics provided by Tianjin Customshouse show the imported fur were mainly from Spain, Italy, Belgium and France. For instance, the Chinese port's imported fur from Spain totaled 2,886 tons from January to June, 2.5 times the comparable figure of last year.
An overwhelming majority of the fur, or 9,274 tons of the total, were imported by general trade.
