Iran on Thursday strongly condemned the recent killing of two Algerian diplomats in Iraq, terming it as an "inhumane and barbaric" act, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi voiced outrage against the killing and sympathized with the family of the victims and the Algerian nation and government, the report said.
"Murder of innocent people is another clear example of terrorism. Different groups in Iraq should join hands and try to establish security and stability in their country," Asefi was quoted as saying.
Two Algerian diplomats, Charge d'Affaires Ali Belaroussi and attache Azzedine Belkadi, were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Baghdad on July 21 and killed on Wednesday.
Egypt's Ambassador-designate to Baghdad Ihab el-Sharif was also kidnapped and then murdered earlier this month.
