Palestinian factions agree to make Israel's Gaza withdrawal successful: Qurei

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei asserted on Thursday that all Palestinian factions had agreed to make the intended Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank a successful one.

Qurei made the statements to reporters following a meeting with leaders of different Palestinian powers and factions, including radical Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Islamic Jihad (Holy War).

"The Palestinian factions and powers are studying a special form to participate with the Palestinian (National) Authority in the preparations for the withdrawal," said Qurei.

He added that there is Palestinian consensus among all parties " to make the step of the Israeli withdrawal succeeding, and everyone agrees that it should have a role in the process of participation during the withdrawal."

"We had discussed the forming of a national unity government or a temporary government that prepares for both the withdrawal and the legislative elections," revealed the prime minister.

He said that the PNA and leaders of the factions "will get back and meet again by next week to study all these presented forms in order to guarantee a participation for everyone who should carry the responsibility in succeeding the process of the withdrawal."

Qurei said that he also discussed with the leaders of the factions the issue of celebrations during and after the withdrawal, adding "we agreed to have central celebrations for all political powers and the PNA together."
