Italy arrests London bombing suspect

Italian police arrested a man believed to be one of the four suspects involved in the July 21 bombing attempts on London's transportation system, the Interior Ministry announced on Friday evening.

Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said Osman Hussain, 27, a naturalized British citizen of Somali origin, was captured in a raid by Italian police amid an international manhunt.

Pisanu said in a statement the arrest really deserved praise.

The ANSA news agency reported Osaman Hussain was picked up at his brother's apartment in Rome and he offered no resistance.

ANSA said Hussain's brother was also taken into custody, but it did not disclose his name.

Police said Hussain traveled by train from London to Paris, to Milan, and then to Rome.

Britain will ask Italy to extradite Hussain, said Peter Clarke, head of the anti-terrorist branch for London's Metropolitan Police.

Police in London arrested one suspected attacker in the city of Birmingham on Wednesday and another two in London on Friday.
