font size

Manuel Rui Costa beat two defenders to score in the 80th minute, helping AC Milan to tie Chelsea 1-1 in a soccer friendly in New Jersey on Sunday.

Rui Costa got the ball off a scramble and sent a left-footed shot from 12 meters to beat Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

After a scoreless first half, Chelsea took a 1-0 lead in the 64th. Reserve forward Didier Drogba ran about 25 meters and beat AC Milan 'keeper Valerio Fiori with a left-footed shot.

AC Milan's Andrea Pirlo knocked in a rebound off Christian Vieri's free kick in the 71st, but referee Brian Hall waved off the goal on an offsides call.

With the draw, AC Milan won the World Series of Football tournament by goal differential against the two Major League Soccer teams in the tournament, the Chicago Fire and D.C. United.
