font size

A Palestinian militant was killed in a mysterious explosion near the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, medics and eyewitnesses reported on Tuesday.

Musallam Najjar, 22, was killed in his house in the town of Bani Sheila, east of Khan Younis, said Moaweya Hasanen, chief of emergency in public health ministry.

Najjar was transferred to Nasser hospital in Khan Younis, Najjar said, adding that four other people in the house were wounded in the blast.

Meanwhile, local residents said Najjar was a member of Fatah's armed wing Al Aqsa martyrs' brigades.

Palestinian Ministry of Interior had repeatedly warned militant groups against making explosives and rockets at homes located in the populated areas.
