Iran delays reopening nuclear plantIran has agreed to a two-day delay in reopening its nuclear processing plant near the central city of Isfa-han. The agreement came late Monday following a request from the head of the UN's nuclear watchdog agency. The spokesman for Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Agha Mohammadi, said UN Nuclear Chief Mohammed ElBaradei asked Tehran for a "maximum of two days" to send its inspectors to Isfa-han where they will oversee the breaking of UN seals on the nuclear plant ahead of a resumption of uranium conversion activities. Mohammadi said Tehran's restraint towards restarting uranium processing showed the government's intention not to squander Iran's right to nuclear power, while preserving close ties to Europe. Earlier in the day, ElBaradei warned Iran not to take any action that might prejudice negotiations with Europe at this critical stage. Source: CCTV |
