font size

Electricity customers' load of Shanghai, China's economic hub, has hit a new record high at 16.68 million kw Wednesday, the fifth time for the municipality to update its consumption record this summer, according to sources with the Shanghai power company.

An official with the company told Xinhua that Shanghai power grids are in normal operation, and the lash-up has yet to be used.

Shanghai power company has taken a series of measures including the work shift for thousands of enterprises and rotation arrangement for those units with high electricity consumption, and all the above have resulted in reduction of 2 million kw electricity load.

Neighboring provinces have given hands to Shanghai by supplying 5.12 million kw electricity to Shanghai Wednesday, another record high for Shanghai.

All the generating units in Shanghai have kept full-capacity operation Wednesday, with highest point hitting 11.84 million kw.
