Jordan unearthed an al-Qaida-linked terrorist network and arrested 17 suspects in western Amman neighborhoods, the al-Rai daily reported on Thursday.
The arrests came after Jordan received warnings of possible attacks against Western targets in the country following the latest bomb attacks in London and the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
State Security Court Public Prosecutor Fawaz Otoum was quoted as saying that the group plotted to launch attacks on "intelligence personnel and foreign officers" in Jordan.
The suspects, who authorities believed belong to al-Qaida branches in Iraq and Saudi Arabia, were also involved in recruiting terrorists and collecting donations, he added.
The security court was expected to try the suspects, aged between 22 and 27, at the end of this month, Otoum said.
