Iran terms EU nuclear proposals as "unacceptable"
font size

Iran on Saturday termed as "unacceptable" a package of incentives offered by the European Union on Iran's nuclear file, state radio reported.

"The European proposal is unacceptable to Iran, for the proposal provides us no guarantees for our interests and are inconsistent to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Paris agreement," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi was quoted as saying.

Asefi referred to an agreement reached by Tehran and the European trio of Britain, France and Germany in Paris last October.

Under the agreement, Iran suspended all activities related to uranium enrichment one month later and opened way to negotiations with the EU.

"The Europeans have not fulfilled their commitments," he said.

Asefi added that Iran would provide its official reply to the proposal Saturday or Sunday.
