A Palestinian was shot dead Sunday afternoon by Israeli gunfire, medical sources said.
Mohamed Qeshta, 23, was shot in the head when Israeli troops stationed on the borderline area between Rafah town in southern Gaza Strip and Egypt suddenly opened fire.
Palestinian witnesses said Qeshta was just getting out from his house that is close to the borderline area, adding a bullet hit his head and he was immediately taken to hospital.
Qeshta suffered very severe wounds in the head, medics at Rafah hospital said, adding he died later of wounds at the hospital.
Qeshta was preparing for his wedding due on Monday.
The Israeli army is scheduled to withdraw from the borderline area. But Israel and the Palestinians have not reached any agreement on administrating the crossing and the borderline area.
Israel and Egypt agreed on deploying 750 Egyptian soldiers on the borderline to prevent weapon smuggling through tunnels from Egypt to the Gaza Strip.
