Bombing suspect extradited to Britain
font size

A terror suspect believed to be involved in the July 7 London bombings was extradited back in Britain, the Sky news reported Sunday.

Haroon Rashid Aswat was extradited to England from Zambia, where he was arrested last month.

"I can confirm that he has arrived in Britain, but it's now a matter for the Home Office," said a British Foreign Office spokesman.

There have been reports that in the run-up to the July 7 attacks the bombers made around 20 calls to Aswat's mobile phone.

The United States also wants him in relation to terrorism offenses. He is suspected of trying to set up a terror camp in Bly, Oregon.

Aswat spent time in South Africa and Botswana before entering Zambia on July 6.

He had been on a watch list of Western intelligence agencies who tipped off Zambian authorities.
