Abbas rejects idea that Gaza withdrawal is first and last one

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas announced on Sunday his total reject to an idea that the intended Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank is the first but the last withdrawal.

The Palestinian daily of al-Quds quoted Abbas as saying that the Palestinian side receives answers to questions related to the withdrawal, adding there are still many questions has no answer yet.

The Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and northern West Bank will not lead to a comprehensive and just peace on the basis of two states, said Abbas who is currently in Gaza.

Abbas stressed that the Palestinian side will make the Israeli withdrawal succeed on the path of implementing the vision of the Palestinian state that the whole international community is supporting it.

On Saturday, Abbas met with the head of the Egyptian delegation Major General Mustafa al-Buheiri and US Security Coordinator in the Middle East General William Ward.

He listened to briefings from the Egyptian and US sides on the latest arrangements for the Israeli withdrawal as well as the training and equipping of the Palestinian security services.

Abbas stressed on the importance of making the withdrawal succeed, saying that this withdrawal should pave the way for liberating the rest of the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967.
