font size

One US service member has been killed and another injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack near Ghazni, a central province of Afghanistan, the US-led coalition said on Wednesday.

Two US service members were initially reported wounded Tuesday and both were evacuated to Bagram Airfield for treatment, said the coalition in a new release.

One of the wounded died shortly after arrival at the airfield while the other service member is listed in stable condition, the release said.

The American unit was conducting operations designed to " disrupt enemy activity in the region" when the attack occurred.
