Egypt frees chemist detained over London bombingsAn Egyptian chemist detained last month for questioning over alleged involvement in the July 7 London bombings was released Tuesday after investigators concluded he had no role in the attacks, a security source said. Magdy Nashar, 33, who had studied in Britain, reportedly left Britain two weeks before the blasts on three underground trains and a bus, which killed at least 54. Nashar was detained last month by Egyptian authorities after he returned to Egypt for a 45-day vacation, but he denied involvement in the bombings, saying all his belongings were still at his apartment in Britain and he would return there after he completed his vacation in Egypt. Nashar was born on May 27, 1972. He traveled to Britain in 2000 to get a doctorate degree from Leeds University, and he is now a researcher at Egypt's National Research Center. Source: Xinhua |
