An exhibition kicked off in Hong Kong Wednesday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of China's victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the victory of the world's war against Fascism.
The nine-day exhibition features over 370 pictures and 104 relics showing the history of Chinese people's fighting against Japanese troops, of which over 50 percent have been rarely shown before.
At the opening ceremony, Li Gang, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, first paid salute to 32 war heroes from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong who were present at the event. He urged people here to continue their efforts in maintaining Hong Kong's stability and prosperity.
Elsie Leung, secretary for Justice, said the exhibition provides chances for Hong Kong residents to see with their own eyes the previous photos and relics. It is very important to remember the history and understand the importance of world peace to the mankind.
