China's foreign trade up 22.8 percent in Jan.-July

China's foreign trade volume reached 765.9 billion US dollars in the first seven months this year, up 22.8 percent year on year, show the latest figures released by Chinese customs on Thursday.

In the January-July period, China's export volume jumped 32 percent to 407.94 billion US dollars, while import volume grew 13.8 percent to 357.96 billion US dollars.

In July, China's monthly foreign trade volume stood at 120.76 billion US dollars, up 20.8 percent year on year. China's export volume in July grew 28.7 percent to 65.58 billion US dollars, while import rose 12.7 percent to 55.18 billion US dollars.

In the meantime, China's imports and exports for processing trade reached 363.61 billion US dollars in the first seven months, up 25.7 percent year on year. The export for processing trade was 218.56 billion US dollars, up 28.8 percent, while import for processing trade totaled 145.05 billion US dollars, a rise of 21.2 percent.

China's general trade in the first seven months reached 329.78 billion US dollars, up 20.8 percent, according to the figures.

Top three in foreign trade

Guangdong, Jiangsu provinces and Shanghai municipality remained the first three in China's foreign trade, according to latest figures released by the General Administration of Customs on Thursday.

In the first seven months this year, south China's Guangdong registered a trade volume of 223.4 billion US dollars, up 17.8 percent year on year and making up 29. 2 percent of the country's total, Chinese customs said.

Guangdong's export volume during the period reached 102.6 billion US dollars, up 24.3 percent, and import volume rose 10.8 percent to 100.8 billion US dollars.

During the January-July period, eastern Jiangsu and its neighbor Shanghai reported foreign trade in 122.3 billion US dollars and 102.7 billion US dollars, a year-on-year growth of 33.7 percent and 14.4 percent, respectively.
