Parades held in HK to mark 60th anniversary of war against Japanese aggression

A number of parades were held in Hong Kong on Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of victory of war of resistance against the Japanese aggression.

Hundreds of people from the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions and Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) marched to the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong in the Central Monday morning and urged Japan to learn lessons from the history and stop playing any trick that prettifies aggression.

Pang Cheung-Wai, member of the central standing committee of the DAB said the defeat of Japan ended Japan's invasion to China 60 years ago, but 60 years later, the Asian peoples see the facts that Japan has adopted history books that glosses over Japan's aggression and Japan's top politicians still pay visits to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, where 14 Class-A war criminals of World War II are honored.

He said, to commemorate the victory of the war is aimed at remembering the peace and hope brought about by the heroes who fought bravely for defending the nation and never allow the invasion to occur again.

The two organizations strongly requested the Japanese government to apologize and compensate for the disasters caused by their invasion in China as soon as possible.

Hong Kong Reparation Association and some other organizations also marched to the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong later in the day.
