17 Spaniards killed in Afghanistan helicopter crash

Seventeen Spanish soldiers were killed onTuesday when the helicopter carrying them crashed near the Afghan city of Herat, said the Spanish Defense Ministry.

The helicopter was on a training exercise for upcoming parliamentary elections when it came down and crashed with another helicopter south of the city of Herat in western Afghanistan.

A military source told Xinhua that at least 17 people had been killed in the crash and five more were still missing.
