Paolo Iorio, a lawyer representing the British government in the London train bombing case, called on Italy Tuesday to extradite a suspect as soon as possible and with no conditions attached.
According to local reports, Iorio said Britain would not accept the temporary handover of suspected London train bomber Hamdi Issac, as was proposed by Italian judicial authorities.
He said Britain sought to have the suspect permanently extradited, adding there was no provision in British law for a temporary handover.
The lawyer said Issac did not have any criminal record in Italy except for holding a fake passport, and therefore, Italy did not have enough reasons to delay the extradition of Issac.
Italian authorities are considering the temporary arrangement so that Issac could eventually be returned to Italy to face international terrorism charges.
Issac, 27, currently in jail in Rome, is being held on international terrorism charges following his arrest in the Italian capital on July 29. He was wanted in connection with the failed July 21 attacks, which came two weeks after four deadly explosions on the London transport system.
Last week, Issac admitted to being involved in the July 21 bombings.
