font size

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia arrived in Beijing here Wednesday afternoon to start a five-day official visit to China as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

During her stay in Beijing, Zia is to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and hold talks with other Chinese leaders including top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and vice Premier Huang Ju. She is also to attend the Sino-Bangladeshi Entrepreneur Symposium.

Besides Beijing, she will also visit Guilin, a tourism resort in China's southwest Guangxi Autonomous Region and Guangzhou, capital city of the southern Guangdong Province.

Zia became the Bangladeshi prime minister in February 1991, the first female prime minister in the country's history. In October 2001, she took the office for the second time.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic links between Bangladesh and China.
