A total of 18 Sudanese investigators arrived in Uganda on Thursday over former first vice president John Garang's helicopter crash, local press reported on Friday.

The Sudanese team, led by former vice president Abel Alier, will report its finding within a month, the report said.

Ugandan Minister of Works John Nasasira, Minister of Internal Affairs Ruhakana Rugunda and other officials Thursday attended a closed meetings with the team, including six aviation experts.

The permanent secretary from the Ugandan Foreign Ministry, Julius Onen, was quoted as saying that Minister Nasasira was mandated to comment about the investigation.

Former rebel leader Garang died in a helicopter crash in southern Sudan on July 30 while flying back from Uganda after meeting President Yoweri Museveni.
