The fastest train in China goes into commercial operation

"Chinese Star", the train with the fastest speed so far in China, operates in Qinhuangdao - Shenyang railway line with passengers onboard on August 16, 2005.

"Chinese Star", enjoying the laudatory fame of "the fastest locomotive in China", officially kicked off its maiden journey on August 1st from Shenyang north station. Some 200 people, the first batch of passengers onboard the "Chinese Star", arrived at Shanhaiguan station in Hebei province on time. With the speed of 160 km per hour, the "Chinese Star" covered 400 km in merely three hours. However, if the locomotive was operated with its full speed, the time of the journey would be cut by half.

The home-designed "Chinese Star", the fast-speed locomotive crew, possesses independent intellectual property rights with a designed speed of 270 km per hour and a maximum capacity of 726 passengers. The locomotive crew has ever created a miracle of 312.5 km per hour, the fastest speed in China during its trial operation in Qinhuangdao ¨C Shenyang railway line at the beginning of 2003. Two years later, after the trial operation of 500,000 km with passengers onboard, the "Chinese Star" with a maximum speed of 213.5 km officially went into operation.
