Gunmen kill 3 members of Iraq's largest Sunni party

Three members of Iraq's largest Sunni Arab party were killed by unknown gunmen on Friday in the north of the country, a senior party member said.

The three members of the Iraqi Islamic Party were kidnapped early Friday in the northern city of Mosul and later killed, Dr.Amar Wajeh told Xinhua.

Gunmen took the three out of their cars, forcing them to stand against a wall and then killed them, witnesses said.

The Iraqi Islamic Party has been recently urging Sunni Muslimsto prepare to participate in the constitution referendum and the coming elections at the end of the year, in a bid to play a bigger role in the political process of this war-torn country.
