Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei arrived in Damascus on Sunday for talks with Syrian leadership concerning the Israeli withdrawal, the official SANA news agency reported.
Qurei said upon arrival that he would brief the Syrian leaders on the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, particularly after the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
"We want to listen to the Syrian leadership's opinions and advice about such issues," he added.
Qurei said his visit "comes within the framework of the continuous cooperation, coordination and consultation with our brothers in Syria."
The prime minister also underlined the "deep-rooted fraternal ties connecting the Syrian and Palestinian brotherly peoples," SANA said.
Earlier in the day, Qurei's office said he would meet with President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara.
