Palestinian Interior Ministry said on Monday that its security apparatuses will deploy its forces in the West Bank city of Jenin to prevent any possible attacks during evacuating four settlements in the region.
The ministry said in a communique sent to reporters that the Palestinian security forces would be deployed in northern West Bank city of Jenin starting from Monday.
The communique said that the step came to guarantee calmness in the region during the Israeli evacuation to the four settlements.
According to the security procedures, the security apparatuses will erect seven Palestinian checkpoints near the Jewish settlements of Ganeem and Kadeem, it said, adding the two mentioned settlements were voluntarily evacuated.
The communique clarified that the security forces would assign 25 Palestinian elements at each checkpoint, adding the Palestinian side agreed on the step with the Israeli side during talks that took place to coordinate the Israeli withdrawal
Meanwhile, other security sources said that the four settlements in northern West Bank would not be handed over to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and the Israeli army would stay in it for further notification.
The sources said that the Israeli army started on Sunday evening dismantling its outposts near the mentioned settlements, and would start demolishing the settlers' houses on Monday.
