The inquest into the shooting of Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes on the London underground by anti-terrorist police has been adjourned for six months, Sky news reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a coroner's court in Britain has heard that the report into the death of de Menezes will be completed by Christmas.

But the report will not be published until all proceedings in the case - including any criminal or disciplinary measures against the police officers involved in the shooting - are complete.

"There is an intention to report before Christmas. No one would expect an investigation such as this to be hurried. It must be wide-ranging and conducted with very considerable care," said Richard Latham QC, on behalf of the Independent Police Complaints Commission, in a brief administrative inquest hearing at Inner South District Coroner's Court.

A memorial for the 27-year-old who was killed wrongly after being mistaken for a suicide bomber suspect is set to take place later at the Brazil Chaplaincy in Westminster Diocese, east London.

Political and legal officials from Brazil have flown to London on Monday to look into the circumstances surrounding his death in south London on July 22.

On Monday, they met Scotland Yard police commissioner Ian Blair, who has been criticized for the police handling of the death and was urged by de Menezes' family to resign.

The discussion was regarded by the Scotland Yard as "positive and constructive".

On Monday evening, de Menezes' cousin handed in a letter to Downing Street calling on those responsible for his death be "brought to justice".

The Brazilian officials will meet on Wednesday members of the Independent Police Complaints Commission who have been investigating into the shooting.
