A US marine killed in a bomb attack in western Iraq and another soldier killed in a rocket attack, the US military said in statements on Tuesday.

The marine, assigned to Regimental Combat Team-8, 2nd Marine Division, was killed on Monday in a roadside bomb near his vehicle outside the flashpoint city of Fallujah.

In a separate statement, the US military said another soldier assigned to Task Force Baghdad was killed in a rocket attack launched by insurgents in western Baghdad at 6:20 p.m. (1420 GMT) on Monday.

Over 1,860 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to media tally.
