Israeli policeman stabbed by Palestinian in W. Bank
font size

An Israeli policeman was stabbed by a Palestinian Friday in the West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli army said.

The border policeman was moderately wounded in the attack which occurred near a tomb revered by both Jews and Muslims, medics said.

The assailant has been arrested, the army said.

This incident followed another attack on Wednesday during which a Jew was stabbed to death by a Palestinian in the Arab East Jerusalem.

Both attacks came just after Israel evacuated all 21 settlements in the Gaza Strip and four in the northern West Bank, Israel's first withdrawal from lands wanted by the Palestinians for a state.
