Security forces have gunned down at least three anti-government guerrillas during clashes in central Nepal, Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) said Monday.
The gun fight ensued after a group of guerrillas attacked the patrolling troops at Betali area in Sarlahi district, some 150 km south of Kathmandu, on Saturday, RNA's Directorate of Public Relation said in a statement.
Five guerrillas were injured in the incident, the statement noted.
Security forces have discovered various weapons including two submachine guns, two pistols, a revolver, socket bombs and guerrillas' logistics from the clash site, the statement added.
Over 12,000 Nepalese people have been killed since the anti-government insurgency took place in the Himalayan kingdom in February 1996.
