Lebanon's PM in Kuwait to seek importing gas oil directly
font size

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora arrived here Monday for an official visit, during which Lebanon will sign a deal with Kuwait to buy much-needed gas oil directly.

The visit was a good opportunity for discussing with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah matters of common interest, including the signing of a gas oil deal, said Siniora, quoted by the Kuwait News Agency.

Siniora noted that the deal, which will be signed by energy ministers of the two countries, would pave the way for importing oil products directly from Kuwait and ensuring a regular flow of such products without middlemen.

"This contributes a great deal in preventing waste of resources and ensuring transparency in bilateral relations and prevents any third party interference in Lebanese interests," he stressed.

Siniora, meanwhile, noted that he would also discuss with Kuwaiti leaders regional matters as well as improving bilateral relations at all levels.

Kuwait has always stood by Lebanon and was continuing to do so regardless of the crises that have hit Lebanon since the 15-year civil war, praised the Lebanese prime minister.
