The preparation has basically been completed for the 2005 meeting of the "21th Century Forum" which is to be held in Beijing from Sept. 5 to 7, the organizer said Monday.
The forum will be sponsored by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Jia Qinglin and Wang Zhongyu, chairman and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, will serve as the forum's honorary president and president, respectively.
With a theme of "Sustainable Development - China and the World", the forum will focus on the urgency and significance of a shift in the development modes and concepts of developing countries and on the study of common problems encountered by China and other countries.
A series of topics, including theory, strategy, society, energy, development and cooperation, will be presented to more than 200 delegates from over 30 countries and regions.
The forum, held once by each session of the CPPCC, or every five years, is designed to look into major issues on world development.
