21 percent of Chinese women start their own business

"More than 21 percent of women in China have started their own business, and the ratio is approaching that of men's", said Huang Qing, Vice President of All China Women's Federation. The business started by women and development of women entrepreneurs since 1980s have aroused attention. At present female entrepreneurs have amounted to 20 percent of all entrepreneurs.

Being relatively young, the female entrepreneurs in China are well educated, full of passion to start business and vigorous. Statistics show 80 percent of female entrepreneurs are aged between 30 and 50; more than half of them have college education or above; most of them are engaged in service industry. Business started by women has helped ease employment pressure, and created job opportunities for female labors. Female workers now outnumber males in 63 percent of enterprises run by female entrepreneurs.
