Anti-war and anti-globalization demonstrators continued to stage protest in Sydney on the second day of the Forbes CEO Global conference on Wednesday, with eight more people arrested.
Some 60 protesters marched through the center of Sydney, capital of New South Wales, and some of them tried to block businesses which, they believe, have benefited from the US-led war in Iraq.
Police said eight of them were arrested on charges of hindering police and assault.
Another eight protesters were arrested on the opening day of the Forbes conference on Tuesday as minor injuries were reported on both protesters and police during confrontations.
New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma said on Wednesday that people are allowed to protest but not break the law.
He described the arrested protesters as "a few ratbags," "and they've felt the full weight of the law as they should."
About 350 leading CEOs, presidents and senior level executives from Asia, Europe, South America, Australia and the United States are discussing world economic trends during the three-day conference.
