China-EU summit to be held in Beijing

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Union (EU) Commission, will attend the eighth China-EU summit in Beijing on Sept. 5, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang in Beijing Thursday.

Blair and Barroso will be here at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, said Qin. Britain is now holding the EU presidency.
