font size

News came from the Ministry of Culture on September 1 saying the Ministry and the US Kennedy Performing Arts Center will hold a Chinese Culture Festival in Washington, which will last a month. The holding of the festival will fall between President Hu Jintao's visit of the US in September and President George W. Bush's visit to China in November.

During the festival the Chinese side will throw about 19 items including Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng's keynote speech, fresco donation ceremony, Beijing Culture Week, a stage art performance by 13 troupes, exhibition of authentic terracotta warriors and horses, display of modern outdoor installation and sculpture as well as miniature film festival etc. covering various arts such as Peking opera, drama, dance drama and symphony. Among the Chinese personnel there will be over 700 people.

According to Ms. Adams, vice president of the Kennedy Center, the Chinese Culture Festival 2005 will be the largest Chinese culture activity in American history. The programs on display during the festival combine the contemporary and traditional, classical and modern styles, which not only will reflect the Chinese culture but can also arouse empathic feelings among the US audience. There have been lots of local audiences who eagerly book tickets, which testifies to their great enthusiasm toward Chinese culture.
