"Underground reservoir" discovered in Lop Nor

According to Dr. Li Zhenyu, associate professor at the Applied Geophysics & Space Information School of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), a more-than-10-kilometers-long and 4-kilometers-wide "underground reservoir" or an underground water-bearing stripe has been discovered in Lop Nor - "sea of death".

It was learned that this is so far the largest "underground reservoir" ever discovered in the Lop Nor region that can be used for irrigation.

In July Dr. Li Zhengyu, equipped with the Magnetic Resonance Imaging together with experts from Xinjiang, conducted survey at 30 spots and finally discovered this large underground water-bearing stripe at the southern edge of the Lop Nor at the northern foot of the Altun Mountains.
