Philippine House of Representatives approves report to dismiss impeachment file
font size

The House of Representatives Tuesday approved a report of the Justice Committee dismissing the impeachment files against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The pro-impeachment lawmakers conceded defeat since only 40 House members had voted against the justice committee report, which killed all impeachment files against the president, as of 12:30 p.m. while 236 voted to support it.

But, the opposition politicians said that they would keep up the campaign to unseat her through the courts and in the streets.

"We may have lost, we may have not gotten the 79 signatures, but this does not mean that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has won," House Minority Leader Francis Escudero said in a speech at the House.
