Erekat urges Israel to stop settlement activities
font size

Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Tuesday that the international community must oblige Israel to stop settlement activities and building a separation wall in the West Bank.

Erekat made the statement in a joint press conference held with visiting Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos in the West Bank city of Jericho.

Israel has to stop its dictation policy, stop creating facts on the ground and stop carrying out unilateral measures, Erekat said.

For his part, Moratinos reaffirmed Spanish support for resuming talks on final status between Israel and the Palestinians and implementing the roadmap peace plan.

Moratinos arrived in the Palestinian territories early on Tuesday to meet with senior Palestinian officials and hand over the Spanish government aid to the Palestinian police apparatus.

The Palestinian Interior ministry said in a statement that Moratinos was scheduled to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the latest developments in the region.

Meanwhile, Moratinos will also meet Interior Minister Naser Yousef and Information Minister Nabil Shaath.
