The visiting Chief of the Sri Lankan Army Lt. Gen. S. H. S. Kottegoda Wednesday toured the forward areas along the line of control (loc) in the Indian- controlled Kashmir, Press Trust of India reports from Srinagar, quoting defense sources.
Kottegoda, heading an 11-member team, arrived in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir Tuesday along with his wife and was received by general officer commanding of 15 corps of the army Lt. Gen. S. S. Dhillon, the sources said.
The Sri Lankan Army Chief visited the forward areas along the International Border and later interacted with formations commanders. Dhillon briefed the visiting dignitary on the security situation in Kashmir, the sources said.
The visiting Sri Lankan Army Chief also called on Kashmir governor Lt. Gen. S. K. Sinha in the evening, the sources said.
The Sri Lanka entourage will be flying out Wednesday.
