font size

China is ready to promote cooperation with the Zimbabwean army in various fields, said Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), in Beijing Thursday.

In a meeting with Zimbabwean Army Commander Phillip Sibanda, Liang said China values the friendship with the Zimbabwean army.

The two countries have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in various fields since forging diplomatic ties. China appreciates Zimbabwe for its adherence to the one-China policy and its support to China in human rights and other international issues, said Liang, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission.

Sibanda said the governments and people of the two countries share deep friendship. He hopes that the two countries and the two armed forces would further enhance their exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Sibanda expressed his appreciation for Chinese people's long-term support to Zimbabwe.

Sibanda was here on a visit to China from Aug. 30 to Sept. 9 as a guest of the PLA general staff.
