Floodwater in New Orleans seriously contaminated

Pictures taken on September 7 showed piles of garbage floating on the water in New Orleans streets, the water itself having turned black and stinking. Local waters have been severely polluted since they contain oil, chemicals, human and animal waste, huge amounts of rubbish, as well as many uncollected bodies.
