India to set free 33 Pakistani prisonersThirty-three Pakistani prisoners lodged in India-controlled Kashmir jails will be set free and handed over to Pakistani authorities at the Wagah land border on Monday, Indo-Asian News Service reported from Jammu Friday. Quoting a senior government official, the report said most of the prisoners had "strayed into India-controlled Kashmir inadvertently from across Pakistan and there was no other criminal case against them." Some Indian citizens who had crossed over to Pakistan are also coming back on Monday. After a through examination of their records, the Indian authorities have found nothing against these 33 prisoners, some of whom are in their teens, it said. A few are mentally challenged and some others had come to the Indian side to find an outlet to their frustrations caused by unemployment or the repeated domestic troubles at home. Source: Xinhua |
