font size

Ten persons died and several others were hospitalized following an outbreak of cholera in the central Nigerian state of Kaduna, state media reported Friday.

The outbreak occurred at the city of Kafanchan, and had been confirmed by local council chairman Abraham Jatau, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.

"We have already taken necessary steps to control the situation, " Jatau was quoted as saying, advising local residents to adopt good sanitary habits in their daily lives.

"The victims are responding to treatment and the council, through its emergency relief committee, has promptly distributed medicine to various hospitals and clinics for their treatment," he added.
