PNA not to ignore practices on Palestinian-Egyptian borders
font size

The spokesman of the Palestinian Interior Ministry said Tuesday that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) will not ignore any practice on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt that may affect Palestinian security.

Tawfik Abu Khousa, told the Voice of Palestine that Palestinian security forces are still investigating a shooting that killed a Palestinian youth and injured another on the Rafah border.

Palestinian witnesses said that Egyptian border police, who were deployed along the border, fired at a group of Palestinian youth who were trying to enter the Egyptian territories.

Medical sources in Rafah said Nafez Attiya, 24, died at hospital and another youth was moderately wounded.

However, an Egyptian presidential spokesman said that Egyptian soldiers only shot to the air to disperse the young men.

Many Palestinians shot to the air out of joy for the Israeli army's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and could have killed the youth by mistake, the spokesman said.
