Investment boosts Argentina's GDP: Economy Ministry

Investment has boosted Argentina's gross domestic product (GDP) and economy, with over 50percent of the GDP growth from 2003 to 2004 resulting from an "increase in investment," the Economy Ministry said Wednesday.

In a report, the Industry Department of the Economy Ministry said that investment in Argentina has grown 86 percent from 2002 to 2004 and reached the average level of Latin American countries, after Argentina's economy collapsed in 2001.

The figure coincided with a recent report of the Center of Studies for Production (CEP), which said the percentage of investment in Argentina's GDP has recovered to 19.2 percent this year, comparable to Brazil's 19.6 percent, Mexico's 20.2 percent and Chile's 20.6 percent.
