Seven persons were killed and several others injured in explosions in three cracker godowns in a village in Bihar in east India, Press Trust of India reports Thursday.

Patna district magistrate B Rajendra, however, said twenty persons were feared killed in the blasts.

The incident occurred some 30 km from state capital Patna.

According to state police officials, the explosions were caused when powerful crackers went off along with the gas cylinders which were also stored in the godowns.

Several workers engaged in the cracker manufacturing unit got trapped, police said, adding that seven laborers died on the spot.

Several others who suffered burn injuries in the explosions were rushed to different hospitals.
