Voting for Afghanistan's new parliament, which began at 6 a.m. (local time), came to a close at around 5 p.m.
Though the turnout was lighter than last year's presidential elections, millions of Afghans used their franchise to elect the members of the parliament and provincial councils.
However, some polling stations were closed as per schedule at 4 p.m.
Those who are standing at their queues can still cast their votes even it takes more time, said Peter Erbon, an official of the Joint Electoral Management Body.
