Indian FM to visit Islamabad to review dialogue process
font size

Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh would visit Pakistan early next month to review the progress of the composite dialogue process with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Naeem Khan told a weekly press briefing Monday.

Natwar Singh would visit Pakistan from Oct. 3 to 5, he said.

There was also a proposal to have preliminary meeting of the Pakistan-India Joint Commission during Singh's talks, Khan added.

The commission, established in 1983, had its last meeting in 1989.The two countries decided in April this year to revive the commission during President Pervez Musharraf's visit to India.

The spokesman said the commission had four sub-commissions on subjects that were being dealt with under the composite dialogue process between Pakistan and India and that the two countries' foreign ministers might decide about restructuring of the commission.
