The New Orleans Hornets has tentatively agreed to play at least part of their 41-game season at the 19,675-seat Ford Center, according to reports from Oklahoma City on Monday.
The Hornets, who are left without a home following Hurricane Katrina, reached the agreement with the city but it is uncertain how many games the Hornets would play in the city. The NBA season starts November 2.
The Hornets could establish a base of operations in Oklahoma City, while also keeping a smaller office in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, said the Oklahomian newspaper.
It is still not known how many games, if any, might be played in Louisiana this season.
The Hornets' home, the New Orleans Arena, was used as a shelter in last month's disaster, which is one of the worst in North America in a generation.
Oklahoma City is not the only city that has offered the team a new home in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Others include Nashville, San Diego, Kansas City, Louisville and Las Vegas, hosts of All-Star Game in 2007.
